If you want to send anything that cannot be folded more than its half, then you should refer the envelope of larger size that can be either 6 x 9 or 6 x 9.5. It will also have a clearance space on all sides after the insertion of your half-folded paper. 

Now, if you want to mail a policy, property papers, invoices or something that carries essential information, then you should always make use of 9 x 12 open side booklet envelope. It is an ideal envelope for the situation where every bit of information on the piece of paper matters for the sender as well as receiver. 

FYI, 9×12 open side envelope is also widely used for money orders.

You should keep the following points in mind while selecting an envelope. 

  1. If envelopes are in regular use for your business, then the first thing to consider is your budget. Make sure that you go for a bulk order or envelopes keeping in mind the cost of the product. 
  2. Next thing to consider while making a purchase of an envelope is its size. The use of different types of envelopes is already discussed in detail above. Therefore, you can make the selection of the envelope accordingly. Make sure that you do not compromise on the size of the envelope; otherwise, it can lead to the damage of the information. 
  3. Apart from that, you shall check the quality of an envelope. Some of the envelopes are translucent due to its manufacturing with a low-quality paper. It might not be acceptable to exchange confidential information in such an envelope. Therefore, you must check and consider the thickness as well as the transparency of an envelope before purchasing it. 
  4. The most important factor for consideration while making the purchase of an ideal envelope is its structure. JBM open-end envelopes are different from the open side envelopes. Therefore, you must select the type of envelope that is the best fit for your purpose.
